    About P​artners Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight (ESCRO)

    ​The ESCRO's responsibilities include the following:

    • The development and maintenance of a registry of all human embryonic stem cell research conducted within Partners HealthCare.

    • Management of the PHS human ESCRO Committee. 

    • Support of communication between hESC investigators and other relevant review/oversight committees (e.g., IRB, IACUC, COMS).

    • Oversight of all hESC research protocols that are reviewed and approved by the Partners ESCRO Committee.

    • Education for Partners investigators conducting hESC research.

    What Is t​he ESCRO Committee?​

    The human ESC​RO Committee is a PHS-based peer-review committee that is responsible for:

    • The review of individual hESC research protocols 
    • The review and amendment of PHS policies and procedures that relate to hESC research
    • In collaboration with the human ESCRO Office, the oversight of the hESC research Registry and education program
